A first podcast does not need a full season behind it. A short conversation, a carefully edited memory or a few minutes of sound can be enough to learn the process. Austin Public Library's APL Innovate offers community access to computers and creative tools for projects including audio, video, music and 3D rendering.
The program is based at Central Library, 710 West Cesar Chavez Street. Its Innovation Studio is Room 523, with recording equipment and two Mac Pro computers. Ask Innovate staff which workspace and software fit your project, especially if you need a particular input, file format or way to save the result.

Studio reservations are limited to two hours and a maximum of four people. The library accepts online bookings and lists a same-day text option; arriving more than fifteen minutes late forfeits the reservation. Current Innovate operating hours are Tuesday–Thursday, 11 a.m.–7 p.m., and Friday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., with Sunday and Monday closures.
Prepare a short outline and bring only material you have permission to use. Plan time to test levels, save files and make a backup before the session ends. If the first edit reveals an awkward pause or an unclear question, that is useful feedback for the next recording rather than a reason to abandon the story.
